The Christina School District will lose its superintendent in the summer of 2020.
Richard Gregg, who attended schools in the district and once served as assistant principal at Christiana High School, recently informed the board of education about his decision to pursue other opportunities.
In a statement, Gregg said he was proud of the work accomplished during his tenure, and that he worked with a "talented, dedicated administrative staff.
Before becoming Superintendent of the Christina School District, Gregg held an administrative position with a district in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. He has had a career in education that's lasted more than 39 years.
"I want to thank Gregg for his dedication to the Christina School District and his many contributions," Christina Board of Education Meredith Griffin said in a statement. "We wish him all the best as he embarks on the next chapter in his distinguished career."
Gregg didn't return a request for an interview.
