A Claymont man was sentenced to almost three decades behind bars for the repeated rape of a child Friday.
Evaristo Martinez, 42, pleaded guilty in February to charges of second-degree sexual abuse of a child by a person of trust, continuous sexual abuse of a child, second-degree rape, third-degree rape, and sexual exploitation of a child.
A judge sentenced him to 28 years, followed by six months of home confinement or work release and two years' probation.
Martinez is accused of raping an 11-year-old girl for a period of nearly four years, according to court records. Martinez knew the girl's family, and she was placed in care.
