A motorcyclist was airlifted to the hospital Sunday following a crash in Claymont.
Delaware State Police said a 77-year-old man from New Castle, behind the wheel of a 2005 Mercury Marquis and was turning left into an Exxon gas station on the 3700 block of Philadelphia Pike on July 28, 2019, at 4:16 p.m. when a motorcycle struck the right front passenger side of the vehicle.
The motorcyclist, a 30-year-old man from Claymont was ejected. Police said the motorcycle operator was wearing a helmet, but was taken to Christiana Hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Mercy wasn't hurt; police cited him for turning left without yielding to oncoming traffic.
The crash shuttered Philadelphia Pike in both directions for 90 minutes Sunday.
