A man was fatally shot in Wilmington's Cool Spring section Monday night, culminating a deadly few days in the city.
City police said the 21-year-old man was shot at 6:53 p.m. on the 1000 block of North Van Buren Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 26-year-old man was shot at 7th and Monroe streets in the city's West Center City neighborhood at 1:30 p.m. on September 16, 2019. He was in stable condition, at last check, according to police.
A 30-year-old man was shot Sunday in Brandywine Village.
Friday, three people were fatally shot in two shootings in the city. Nadine Midgette, 36, was shot and killed on the city's East Side just after midnight on September 13, 2019.
Hours later, at 10:35 a.m., at 5th and Monroe streets, two men, ages 24 and 26 were killed at 10:35 a.m. They were identified as Dwayne Britt and Kenneth Hamilton, respectively.
All of the shootings remain under investigation, and no one has been arrested.
Shooting victims exceed last year
There's still three-and-a-half months left in the year, and Wilmington has already racked up more shooting victims this year than last year.
The city has recorded 79 gun violence victims, so far, this year, in 60 shooting incidents, according to the Wilmington Police Department.
Last year, total, 78 people fell victim to gun violence in Wilmington.
