Delaware State Police are looking into a pair of early week incidents in the New Castle area.

The first instance occurred at approximately 11:46 a.m., Sunday, March 10, 2019 at the Metro PCS store on New Castle Avenue, near Collins Park.

A male suspect, described as a Hispanic male, 5’08”-6’02” tall, 150-160 lbs., wearing a hooded jacket, dark colored pants armed with a knife, entered the establishment and demanded money from the register.

An employee refused and the suspect fled north along New Castle Avenue without obtaining cash or property.

The second incident occurred Monday afternoon, March 11, 2018, at approximately 2:41 p.m. at the Dollar Tree on Hessler Boulevard, near West Minquadale.

A male suspect, described as a white or Hispanic male, 5’07”-5’08’ tall, 170-180 lbs, unshaven, medium build, wearing a dark colored hooded jacket, dark colored pants and dark colored winter style hat armed with what appears to be a knife, entered the establishment and confronted a an employee at a sales counter.

The suspect managed to grab an undisclosed amount of cash from the register before striking the employee with the knife and fleeing in the direction of North DuPont Highway, said Delaware State Police.

The employee reported minor abrasions and refused treatment.

Neither incident has surveillance footage to work with and anyone with information on either incident is urged to contact the Troop 2 Robbery Unit at 302.365.8566.

Delaware State Police have not identified these incidents as related in any way.
