Dewey Beach following a week-long storm

Dewey Beach following a week-long storm in May 2022

Dewey Beach visitors can once again access the coast after damage from the week-long Nor'Easter wrecked dune crossings.

The storm that was parked off of the North Carolina coast since last Friday caused giant erosion cliffs to form near the dune access points.

Dewey closed the access points on Thursday, but were able to reopen all but three, which were reopened just before sunset on Friday.

In a statement, the town said they are working this DNREC on a full beach restoration plan.
