A 38-year-old Dover man is behind bars after a standoff with Delaware State Police last month at the home where he and his mother live.
Justin Topolski threatened his mother with a knife during an argument at their home on the morning of June 25, 2019, police said.
He barricaded himself inside and fired shots at troopers during the standoff, hitting a police vehicle parked outside the home, officers said.
After a psychiatric evaluation, Topolski was charged on Friday, July 12, with first-degree attempted murder, three counts possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, two counts first-degree reckless endangering-creating a substantial risk of death, possession of a deadly weapon during commission of a felony, aggravated menacing, terroristic threatening, and offensive touching. He was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $665,100 cash bnod.
