A 42-year-old Dover man was charged with beating a victim unconscious over a $10 debt, then stealing $50 and medication from the victim, city authorities said Thursday.

According to Dover Police, Erion Walker got into an argument with the 53-year-old man around 12:45 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2019, in the Royal Farms parking lot at 295 South DuPont Highway.

The victim was transported to an area hospital for injuries suffered in the assault. Walker was located in the area of West Reed and South Queen streets around 6:05 p.m. on October 9, and attempted at the time to elude officers, police said.

During the incident, authorities said he tossed a black bag--later recovered and found to contain 13 bags of heroin--and refused to allow himself to initially be cuffed.

For the incident in the parking lot and for his actions during his arrest, police said Walker was charged with first-degree robbery, third-degree assault, tampering with physical evidence, resisting arrest, two counts possession of heroin, and drug paraphernalia. He was released of his own recognizance.
