A 20-year-old Dover man was charged with shooting a 13-year-old boy in the face Tuesday evening, city authorities announced Wednesday. 

According to Dover Police, Darius Jean-Baptiste fired a gun in the area of West North Street and Simon Circle around 6 p.m. on February 18, 2020, that sent a juvenile victim to an area hospital with a graze wound to his face, and also damaged two area homes with gunfire. 

Police said Jean-Baptiste was arrested while fleeing from the scene on foot and charged with second-degree assault, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, four counts reckless endangering, and two counts criminal mischief. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $73,200 cash bond.
