A 27-year-old man who dropped a gun during a foot chase with officers was eventually apprehended and charged thanks to an assist from Wilmington Police, Dover authorities announced Tuesday.
According to Dover Police, authorities received a tip and image around 12:30 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2020, of 27-year-old Kacey White carrying a weapon and, with assistance from Wilmington Police, was contacted in the 500 block of River Road.
During a pursuit, police said a 9mm handgun loaded with 30 rounds of ammunition fell from his waistband. He was taken into custody a short time later and a search of his residence by Delaware Probation and Parole officers yielded a second handgun previously reported stolen, and 15 bags of heroin.
White was charged with three counts possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, receiving a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, tampering with physical evidence, possession of heroin, resisting arrest, and violation of probation. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $114,000 cash bond.
