One man has been arrested and Dover Police continue to look for several others after authorities said they used a rock to break into a rental car agency, but failed to steal any cars from the lot.

According to police, Darius Payne was the only member among a group observed near the Enterprise Car Rental at 635 South Bay Road around 9:50 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2019, who could be linked to a burglary police responded to after an alarm went off.

Several sets of keys had been stolen from the location, but none of the corresponding vehicles were on the lot at the time, police said.

The group with whom police located Payne all attempted to flee and were ultimately detained, but authorities said Payne was the only one with evidence on his person linking him to the burglary.

He was charged with third-degree burglary, theft under $1,500, criminal mischief, wearing a disguise during commission of a felony, second-degree conspiracy, and resisting arrest. He was released on $12,100 secured bond.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Dover Police at 302.7367130 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1.800.TIP.3333.
