A Saturday house fire in Odessa was touched off by embers from the fireplace, according to the Delaware state Fire Marshal's Office.

Odessa firefighters extinguished the fire at a house on Canary Court in Augustine Creek, which investigators said was sparked by embers that ignited framing surrounding the chimney and fireplace.

The family inside the house escaped unharmed.

Damage to the house was estimated at $10,000, according to the fire marshal.
