Following a pair of robberies, New Castle County Police are warning area residents about arranging sales via a particular online app.

According to police, a 41-year-old Mayview Manor man using the Letgo app to sell a dirtbike called police on January 24, 2018, when the buyer took off from the Rosehill Community Center during a test drive and failed to return.

On January 28, 2018, police were dispatched to the 100 block of Gladstone Way where a 16-year-old boy reported he had arrived to a meeting set up with the Letgo app to purchase an iPhone, and the seller instead kept the phone, robbed the teen of $130, and fled on foot.

When using online applications to make sale arrangements, insist on meeting during daytime hours in public places with cameras in the area. Do not deviate from the initial plan or meet at a new location at the last minute. If the deal is too good, it probably is.

Anyone with information pertaining to these investigations is urged to contact New Castle County Police at 302.573.2800 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1.80.TIP.3333.
