A 27-year-old man, who was employed by a pre-K program, was charged with the sexual assault of two children, Harrington Police announced Monday.
According to authorities, Timothy K. McCrary, of Thistlewood Road, was an aid at the Telamon Head Start in the 100 block of East Street when police were alerted to the possibility of sexual abuse by the Division of Family Services.
Authorities said, with the assistance of the Child Advocacy Center and the Delaware Department of Justice, they learned McCrary abused two juveniles, ages 4 and 5, during the month of May.
"Mr. McCrary was released from his employment by Telamon on May 23, 2019, when the first allegation of sexual abuse was made," said Department of Services for Children, Youth and Families spokesman Joseph Smack.
McCrary was arrested by Harrington Police and Delaware State Police on Friday, June 21, 2019, and charged with three counts first-degree sexual abuse of a child by a person of trust and one count unlawful sexual contact of a victim less than 13 years old. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $235,000 cash-only bond.
Police urged anyone who believes their child may be a victim of McCrary's or who has information regarding this individual to contact them at 302.398.4493 ext. 12 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1.800.TIP.3333.
