An inattentive driver on I-95 plowed into a Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) construction truck that was providing safety backup to crews working on the roadway.

The crash occurred on northbound I-95 prior to the Marsh Road off ramp shortly after 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2020.

DelDOT officials say their driver was operating a vehicle with a truck mounted attenuator, which is designed to absorb a crash impact, in front of crews who were striping the road surface.

The collision shot the DelDOT truck from the right lane into the median.

According to DelDOT the driver of the vehicle failed to notice multiple signs indicating the right lane closure ahead.

Delaware State troopers are investigating the crash and say the driver of the car suffered non-life threatening injuries.
