Where Pigs Fly, a hallmark of the Dover BBQ scene for over a quarter-century, will serve its last ribs on Saturday.
In a post on their Facebook page Wednesday afternoon, Tom & Kelly Devine made the announcement saying "we appreciate every customer who has come through our doors or that we have catered for since April 19, 1993."
Their menu included all of the BBQ classics including pulled pork, chicken, brisket, and baby back ribs. A combination of the pork, chicken, and ribs was known as the "Where Pig's Fly."
Their website said the ownership was based from an Air Force Family, not surprising for a location just about 2 miles from the Dover Air Force Base at the intersection of Loockerman Street and Route 13.
Increased BBQ competition has come to Dover in recent years, including the chain Mission BBQ further north on Route 13.
They might be closing after Saturday, but they had long last request of their customers.
"Come dine in or take out,on our last few days, so we can celebrate together!"
