A 35-year-old man has been charged with sexually harassing a juvenile girl at an area library, New Castle County Police detailed Tuesday.

According to authorities, the 16-year-old victim was in the Bear Library at 101 Governors Avenue on August 8, 2019, when a man identified as Johnathan Brown approached her, causing her to leave the library. The suspect followed her and began asking her sexually suggestive questions, police said.

The victim hid in a nearby fast food restaurant until Brown left the area, police said, then returned to the library and reported the incident to police, providing a detailed description of the suspect. Police said library staff notified them on August 12 that Brown had returned, and officers arrived and took him into custody.

He was charged with one count misdemeanor sexual harassment and released on $1,000 unsecured bond, but police said investigators believe there are more victims. Anyone with information regarding Brown is urged to contact New Castle County Police Det. Kevin Mackie at 302.395.8133 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1.800.TIP.3333.
