A 41-year-old man pled guilty to two counts of manslaughter for illegally attempting to pass a vehicle in Newark and killing two people in the resulting head-on collision, the Delaware Department of Justice announced Friday.

According to DOJ officials, Jeffrey Guseman, of Bear, crossed the double yellow line on Salem Church Road in August 2018, and crashed head-long into a Toyota Camry.

The operator of the Camry survived, but both of the victim's parents, visiting Delaware from another country, were killed.

Guseman pled guilty to the manslaughter charges and one count second-degree assault. He'll be sentenced in March of 2020.
