Bicyclist, 83, breaks hip after being struck by car outside Bear

 

A 27-year-old Maryland woman was killed in a crash while riding a bike in South Bethany on the 4th of July, Delaware State Police announced Monday. 

According to authorities, Kelly M. Scruggs, of Annapolis, was riding a bike across the median of Coastal Highway and into the southbound lanes around 10:15 p.m. on July 4, 2019, when she crossed into the path of a Toyota Sienna being operated by a 50-year-old Red Lion, Pennsylvania, man approaching Evergreen Road. 

Scruggs was transported to Beebe Hospital and then transferred to Christiana Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries on July 6, 2019, authorities said. She died the same day a bicyclist was struck and killed in New Castle County.
