Naamans Senior League's hopes for a second straight United States championship were ended Monday with a 6-1 loss to Virginia in an elimination game at the Senior League World Series.
Johnny Pfander produced Naamans' only RBI with a groundout in the 3rd inning, but the offense could only produce 5 hits against the team from Onancock on Virginia's Eastern Shore.
Conor Campbell went 2-for-3, and pitched 2.1 scoreless innings, but it wasn't enough for the Delaware and East Region champions.
Naamans was looking to join Georgetown's 1981 team as the only Senior League World Series champions from Delaware. Last year's squad became the first U.S. champion since that team.
