A New Castle County police officer was hospitalized with minor injuries after a crash in the Bear area Monday.

Police were called to Route 40 and Walther Road at 1:38 p.m. on January 13, 2020, for reports of a crash between a patrol car and a Hyundai SUV.

Police said the Hyundai Tucson was turning left from Route 40 onto Walther Road when it was struck by the fully marked patrol car that was traveling westbound on Route 40.

The 61-year-old woman behind the wheel of the Hyundai was also hospitalized.  Both she and the officer face non-life-threatening injuries.
