A New Castle man is behind bars for allegedly threatening some kids with a knife.

49-year-old John McDaniels approached a trooper at the Crossroads Shopping Center Saturday afternoon and said he'd been shot with a BB or pellet gun, Delaware State Police said.

A 14-year-old boy then told the trooper he and several friends were riding bikes in the area when they crossed paths with McDaniels and an argument ensued.

Police learned McDaniels had been shot with the BB or pellet gun, but he'd been the aggressor in the confrontation, threatening the kids with a knife before one of the kids shot McDaniels several times, slightly injuring him.

A search of McDaniels turned up his knife and some meth, and he was booked into the Howard Young Prison on charges including possession of a deadly weapon during a felony, aggravated menacing and drug possession.
