A 40-year-old Newark woman died Sunday as a result of injuries she suffered after rear-ending a tractor trailer near Smyrna Saturday, Delaware State Police announced Monday. 

According to authorities, the victim--identified July 23, 2019, as Tamrell O. Blake--was operating a Buick Verano when she struck the rear of a Freightliner waiting to turn into the Smyrna rest area, becoming lodged underneath the trailer, on July 20, 2019, around 3:20 a.m. 

She was transported to Christiana Hospital with serious injuries, and succumbed to them on July 21, 2019. 

The 23-year-old Levittown, Pennsylvania, man operating the Freightliner was transported to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
