A Pennsylvania man high on methamphetamine who ran a red light and caused a crash that killed a 74-year-old man in Bear is heading to prison for five years, the Delaware Department of Justice announced Friday.

According to officials, William German, 27, of Garnet Valley, pled guilty in January 2019 to speeding along Route 40 in June 2017, passing other cars using the shoulder, when he ran a red light at Glendale Boulevard and crashed into a vehicle being driven by 61-year-old Jacquelyn Scott-Crothers, of Newark.

She suffered serious injuries and her husband, John Crothers, was killed.

German received five years for his manslaughter guilty plea.
