An 18-year-old Newark man was charged in connection to the armed robbery of an area liquor store, city authorities said Wednesday. 

According to Newark Police, Joshua Nicholson was the suspect who pulled a gun on a clerk at Modern Liquors in the 200 block of East Delaware Avenue and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. 

Police initially reported the robbery the day it happened, Wednesday, October 30, 2019, but Nicholson's arrest comes a day after they released surveillance images of a suspect on Monday, November 11, 2019. 

After receiving tips about Nicholson's identity, police said they picked him up at his Newark residence without incident on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, and charged him with first-degree robbery and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony. He was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $40,000 secured bond.
