Dover Police arrested a man on weapons charges Friday morning after they said he fired shots at his ex-girlfriend's vehicle.
Police handcuffed 22-year-old Kevin Wilkerson of Dover after they said he fired off shots, causing vehicular damage, on North Farmview drive at 2:13 a.m. on January 17, 2020.
Witnesses told police they saw a dark blue or black Dodge Durango circling the area when the shots were fired.
That same vehicle was located near West North Street and South Queen Street, a short time later. When authorities tried to pull Wilkerson over, they said he didn't stop for a mile.
Officers said in the vehicle they found synthetic marijuana known as "K2." They claim Wilkerson also showed them where he had ditched the gun used in the shots fired incident. They said the gun, located in front of a business on the 300 block of South Governors Avenue had a scratched off serial number.
Wilkerson is behind bars at Sussex Correctional Institution after failing to post $20,700 cash bond on a host of charges, including criminal mischief, tampering with evidence, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, possession of a gun by a person prohibited, and drug possession.
