A 34-year-old Philadelphia woman who died in an I-95 crash near Wilmington that also left a 5-year-old boy in critical condition was identified by Delaware State Police Thursday.
According to authorities, Melonie McGee was the driver who was speeding along I-95 southbound in a Mercury Mountaineer when she lost control navigating a turn and clipped a Honda Accord, sending her vehicle into a guardrail and ejecting both McGee and the child, neither of whom was wearing a seat belt.
McGee was pronounced dead at Christiana Hospital. The boy remains at Nemours/A.I. duPont Hospital for Children in critical condition.
The 28-year-old Wilmington man driving the Honda Accord was wearing his seat belt and transported to St. Francis Hospital with minor injuries.
