A police pursuit up and down Route 13 between the Route 40 split and Wilmington Manor came to a grinding halt in the southbound lanes south of Hares Corner around 11:30 Thursday morning, June 27, 2019.
The incident began around 11:15 when Delaware State Police and Wilmington Manor firefighters were dispatched to a crash with injuries at the Route 13/40 with one vehicle in the grass off the roadway.
As New Castle County police vehicles arrived at the scene, the car in the grass took off and went north on Route 13 all the way to Wilmington Manor.
The car turned onto Bacon Avenue and drove along several neighborhood streets before heading back south on Route 13.
The car was driving on at least two rims when the pursuit ended in the middle of the southbound lanes of Route 13 in the Midvale stretch, south of Hares Corner.
The driver was then removed from the car and handcuffed.
