An 85-year-old vehicle operator cited for inattentive driving for causing a crash in Bear by suddenly pulling his parked vehicle into traffic has succumbed to his injuries, Delaware State Police said Wednesday.

According to police, the crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2019, when Wayne A. Beemler merged his Chevrolet Malibu from the right shoulder of Salem Church Road into the right lane of travel--and directly into a Honda Civic being operated by a 54-year-old Newark man.

Beemler was transported to Christiana Hospital and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, but was pronounced dead on Tuesday, June 11, 2019.

The civic driver suffered minor injuries and received treatment at Christiana Hospital.
