An 18-year-old man pled guilty to a 2017 Wilmington shooting death, Delaware Department of Justice officials announced Friday.

According to officials, Aaron Miles was a juvenile when he shot 23-year-old David Bailey in the area of Beech and South Van Buren streets on July 28, 2017. He left Bailey for dead, and officers located the victim unconscious and bleeding from a gunshot wound.

Bailey was pronounced deceased at Christiana Hospital.

Miles walked into St. Francis Hospital with a gunshot wound and provided hospital staff and law enforcement officers with an alias, but police were able to determine his identity and used surveillance footage from the area to determine he was the shooter that killed Bailey.

Miles was charged as an adult after an appeal to be tried as a juvenile was denied, and pled guilty to second-degree murder. He faces sentencing in November.
