Delaware State Police are hoping you can help them find a man they say sped away from troopers during a traffic stop, endangering young children who were in his SUV.

Troopers pulled over the older-model Ford Explorer Thursday night on Moores Lane near Midfield Road in New Castle, and during questioning, the driver suddenly took off. police said.

Because there were 3 young children in the SUV, the troopers didn't give chase.

The Explorer is tan or gold, with a roof rack, tinted windows and a Pennsylvania temp tag.

Once he's identified, the driver will be charged with disregarding a police officer's signal, reckless endangering and child endangerment.

Anyone who knows who the driver is or where he might be can call

Sgt. E. Larney at 302.505.2773.
