Appoquinimink's Trevor Coleman scores the go-ahead run against Cape Henlopen

Appoquinimink's Alex Jones drove in 3 runs and Mason Keene came within an out of a complete game victory as the Jags defeated Cape Henlopen 4-3 in a DIAA Baseball Semifinal Friday night.

Cape Henlopen entered Friday with a 2-0 lead after Mason Fluharty's 2-run homer on Thursday just before lightning struck, but Keene settled down on the mound in the game that continued 27 hours later.

Appo tied the game in the 3rd when Alex Jones smashed a drive to vacant straightaway centerfield, Cape was playing him to go to right, bringing home Jarrett Weglarz and Jake Conover with the equilizing runs.

Lucas Johnson put Cape back in front in the top of the 5th when his pulled single down the left field line let Grant Evans score the go-ahead run.

The advantage wouldn't make it through the 5th, Appo put together 3 straight hits, including back-to-back RBI singles from Keene and Jones to get Appo's neck in front for the first time in the game.

Keene fielded a comebacker in the 7th, but had to be taken out with a runner on and 2 outs in the final inning of regulation.

Krew Bouldin was summoned ton the mound, and he was able to force a strikeout to send Appo to the title game.

Appoquinimink will face the winner of Saturday's second semifinal between Salesianum and Caravel in Sunday's title game set for 7pm at Frawley Stadium.
