DMA's Samantha Freeland went 4-for-4 with 3 runs scored as the undefeated Seahawks handed Caravel their first loss 7-3 on Thursday afternoon.
The Seahawks' lead-off hitter set the tone quickly with a lead-off double, before scoring on Nicole Elliott's sacrifice fly.
DMA pitcher Lani Sheehan helped her cause with a lead-off walk in the second, which was followed by Gracelyn Frost's infield single, and then Clare Henry sent a double into the right field gap to bring in Abby Montgomery, who was running for Sheehan.
Freeland followed with a grounder that got past a drawn-in infield, which drove in one run, with Henry also scoring on an error in the outfield.
Another error would lead to a 4th DMA run, and a 5-0 lead after two innings.
Caravel would get one run back in the 3rd inning without a hit, as Danielle DeBenedictis' lead-off walk led to a run on a three-base error, but the Bucs were still down 5-1.
Angelina Dell'Oso came within feet of sending a drive over the left-field wall with a 6th inning RBI double, and she later scored on another error.
Caravel loaded the bases in the 7th, and picked up 2 runs on a 2-out error, but they could not get the tying run to the plate.
Sheehan earned the win by striking out a batter in each of the 6 innings she worked, surrendering just 2 hits and the unearned run.
Both teams are slated to take part in Caravel's 6-game Attack Addiction marathon on Saturday.
DMA (9-0) will face Mount Pleasant at 1pm, and then Appoquinimink at 5pm.
Caravel (8-1), who were led by Breanna Bryant's two-hit performance, will play Delmar at 3pm.
