Salesianum's Bradley Santore prepares to attack the goal in a game against Caesar Rodney

Salesianum withstood a mid-game surge from Caesar Rodney for a 12-5 win in a DIAA Boys Lacrosse Semifinal Sunday afternoon.

After having the game twice delayed by storms, and then dealing with distant thunder again Sunday, the teams finally got their game in four days late.

Salesianum looked ready to go, getting two goals from Brady McGovern, and markers from Michael McGarry and Bradley Santore as they jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the opening 12 minutes.

Santore eventually stretched the lead to 7-2 as he was pushed from behind while scoring a goal with 5:17 to go before halftime, when the Riders made their move.

Tyler Morris scored the final goal of the first half, and James Cava scored 5 mintues into the second half to get within 7-4, and there looked to be at least some doubt as to who would advance.

That ended quickly, as the Sals went on the decisive 5-goal run, including 2 more goals from McGovern both assisted by Colby Bushweller to put the game away.

McGovern finished with 4 goals for Salesianum, who advances to face Cape Henlopen on Wednesday night at Caesar Rodney at 8 p.m.

Wooleyhand had 2 goals for Caesar Rodney.
