A wanted 27-year-old Wilmington man is facing drug and weapon charges after Delaware State Police said they caught him concealing a stolen handgun and crack cocaine.
According to authorities, Rashaad Benson was picked up by officers with the Governor's Task Force as they conducted proactive quality-of-life patrols in the area of Churchmans Road and Route 7.
Police followed Benson as he drove in a gold Lincoln Town Car to Royal Farms at 457 Stanton Christiana Road, and stopped him there. He was found with a handgun reported stolen out of Wilmington in July 2019 in his waistband, police said, and four grams of crack cocaine.
He was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of ammunition by a person prohibited, receiving a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm while in possession of narcotics, and possession of cocaine. He was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $34,500 cash bond.
