Wesley kicker Nick Bruhn and defensive lineman Shymere Vessels have earned New Jersey Athletic Conference weekly honors for their parts in the Wolverines' comeback victory at Endicott.
Vessels had 10 first-half tackles and finished with 4 tackles for loss in the 20-17 victory that was finished off when Bruhn hit field goals from 23 and 27 yards in the final 4:20 of the game to win the game.
Vessels finished with 12 tackles on an afternoon where he was shifted from defensive end to defensive tackle to help with the absence of Rock Hunter due to injury. His constant pressure on Endicott QB Dylan Bonfilio helped slow a Gull offense that had scored touchdowns on their first two drives.
Bruhn was only used as a punter in the first half, but his number would be called for the two crucial moments, and he's now tied for the NJAC lead with 5 made field goals in the opening 3 weeks. He also averaged 42.7 yards on his 3 punts.
Wesley (3-0) takes this week off, before opening conference play on October 5 against Rowan.
