They call it Operation Rest Easy.

Fourth grade students from Wilbur Elementary School in the Colonial School District joined forces with the Christiana and Delaware City fire companies to collect dozens of pillows, wash cloths and towels for the Northern Star Children's Foundation.

The Foundation will distribute the items to kids in New Castle and Kent counties living in extreme poverty, often times without a bed to sleep in or a pillow to put their head upon.

Foundation President Laurie Smith said the collection of items brought tears to her eyes when she walked in.

"I'm just overwhelmed. I cannot believe the great job that each and every one of you guys did."

Smith became even more emotional when the teachers and staff from Wilbur presented her with a monetary donation.

"When we receive things like this it makes a big difference in being able to put food on the table for some of the kids that we service, and to be able to get them out in the community to do events and activities."

This isn't the first time the kids at Wilbur have worked to help others less fortunate.

The students previously had collected batteries to be sent to power starved Puerto Rico.
