The Wilmington Firefighters of D platoon got the call to 409 S. Van Buren Street at 11:58 a.m. Saturday morning.

The unit arrived on January 12, 2019, to find heavy smoke coming from the two-story, middle-of-the-row home, the Wilmington Fire Department said.

A fire in a rear bedroom was quickly doused, and firefighters found no one inside the residence.

One firefighter suffered a leg injury during the operation and was transported to Wilmington Hospital for treatment.

It took firefighter less than an hour-and-a-half to place the scene under control.

The 300 and 400 blocks of S. Van Buren were closed from traffic until 2:37 p.m., per Wilmington Police.

The Wilmington Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the origin of the blaze.
