A man in distress had to be rescued from a vessel at the Port of Wilmington Tuesday night.

Firefighters were called to Berth 5 at the port at 6:30 p.m. on May 26, 2020. There, they found a man who had fallen 60 feet below deck and couldn't move.

Firefighters had to use a stokes basket and ropes and rigs to hoist the man who to safety, over the dockside and onto a stretcher.

He was taken to Wilmington Hospital, where his condition was unknown.
