A 17-year-old Wilmington juvenile has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a 23-year-old victim in July 2017, city authorities announced Friday. 

According to Wilmington Police, Aaron L. Miles was arrested and charged Thursday, April 12, 2018, in connection to the shooting death of David Bailey. Bailey was shot in the chest at 1:22 p.m. on Friday, July 28, 2017, in the 700 block of South Van Buren Street. He succumbed to his injuries around 2 p.m. despite emergency life-saving measures. 

Bailey was the 121st shooting victim and 22nd homicide victim of 2017. 

Miles was charged with first-degree murder, possession of a deadly weapon during commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited. He was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of a $1 million bond.
