A 25-year-old Wilmington man has been charged with stalking after repeatedly contacting a female acquaintance against her wishes, Delaware State Police said Tuesday.

According to authorities, Shane Windell repeatedly contacted the victim throughout the month of October, calling her, texting her, and even following her while she was driving.

Windell was advised to cease contact by any means--be it electronic or face-to-face--but, during a 16-hour period over October 9th and 10th, he called her 34 times and sent 25 text messages, according to police. They also said he used a Google Voice number to call the victim from an unknown number.

The victim reportedly heard heavy breathing when she answered.

Windell turned himself in on October 14 and was charged with one count felony stalking. He was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $6,000 cash bond.
