An 18-year-old Wilmington man has been charged in connection to a Red Lion trailer park home invasion, authorities announced Tuesday.

According to New Castle County Police, David L. Hancock had been knocking on the window and front door of a residence in the 600 block of Bridle Way in the Hunters Run Trailer Park on Saturday, November 2, 2019.

Police said the victim saw Hancock using a flashlight and was walking around checking windows before he heard the rear door being smashed open. When the victim confronted Hancock, a struggle ensued, police said, and the suspect broke free and fled.

After being identified as the suspect, Hancock was taken into custody at the New Castle County Courthouse on Monday, November 5, and charged with felony first-degree burglary, possession of a deadly weapon during commission of a felony, felony aggravated menacing, and misdemeanor third-degree assault. He was committed to the custody of the Department of Correction in lieu of $59,000 secured bond.
