A now-41-year-old Wilmington man is heading to prison for 30 years for killing a woman in Kirkwood Park, the Delaware Department of Justice announced Friday.

According to officials, in October 2017, Timothy Jones stabbed Rashawna Weathers numerous times--while also injuring himself--inside a Porta-Potty in the park in the 600 block of East 11th Street.

Weathers' body was discovered by a man walking his dog, who saw her feet protruding from the unit on Sunday, October 1, 2017.

Authorities noticed Jones hanging around the park in the days following the murder and noticed his freshly bandaged hand. Forensic evidence led to Jones being linked to the murder.

He pled guilty in March 2019 to second-degree murder and possession of a deadly weapon during commission of a felony.
