A 25-year-old Wilmington man pleaded guilty to killing a 16-year-old girl in 2017, Delaware Department of Justice officials announced Friday.
According to the DOJ, Shyheim Warren shot and killed Tynesia Cephas in the 900 block of Kirkwood Street on Wilmington's East Side on April 26, 2017, while the teen was trying to break up a large fight in front of a home where she lived with her boyfriend.
Warren turned himself in to police on December 11, 2018, after being indicted by police on September 11, 2018, following a 17-month investigation. After initially being arrested on second-degree murder charges, Warren pleaded guilty to manslaughter and possession of a deadly weapon during commission of a felony.
He'll be sentenced later this year.
