A 40-year-old Smyrna man has been charged with raping a child he knew.
According to Delaware State Police, Michael R. Boorman sexually assaulted the victim repeatedly between January 2012, when the victim was 6 years old, through September 2019. Abuse occurred at the victim's residence and other locations throughout Smyrna, police said.
He was arrested Tuesday, February 25, 2020.
Boorman's been charged with three counts first-degree rape, second-degree rape, four counts first-degree sexual abuse of a child by a person of trust, second-degree sexual abuse of a child be a person of trust, continuous sexual abuse of a child, four counts dangerous crime against a minor less than 14-criminal sexual conduct, and two counts unlawful sexual contact with a person less than 13.
He was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $1,090,000 cash bond.
