Saint Elizabeth's Thomas Mosley rushed for 3 touchdowns as they won the "Battle of the Vikings" 34-6 over Christiana.
The opening-day contest felt that way early, as the teams combined for four lost fumbles and a muffed punt snap in the opening 6 minutes.
Saint Elizabeth would get their rushing attack going, as Mosley broke a long run on the final play of the opening quarter, and then scored from 3 yards out to get Saint E out of the blocks 7-0.
After a short Christiana drive, Saint Elizabeth again went back to Mosley for a short touchdown run of 3 yards, and a 13-0 lead after a blocked extra point.
Christiana's offense struggled most of the night, including missing out on two goal-line opportunities after 2 St. Elizabeth fumbles, but struck gold midway through the half when a WR screen pass to Zaid Barnes turned into a serious of jukes through the Saint Elizabeth defense for a 61 yard touchdown, bringing the deficit down to 13-6 at halftime.
Mosley and the Saint Elizabeth version of the Vikings put the game away in the third quarter, as Mosley broke off a 38-yard touchdown on a sweep to the right side of the line, and then CJ Small found Alex Rollo for a 14-yard touchdown pass after Chris Caracter's INT.
Quasim Benson and Ethen Gunter both scored short touchdown runs in the 4th quarter, while Shawn Cintron forced another Christiana turnover with an interception to finish off the victory.
Saint Elizabeth will host Saint Mark's next Saturday at 7:30 at this year's home field at Caravel Academy, while Christiana opens Flight B play at A.I. duPont next Friday at 6:00 p.m.
