It wasn't pretty, but the Green Knights of Mount pleasant are now a single win away from a .500 season after heading to Mill Creek and taking down the Highlanders of McKean 17-6.
Carnell Smith rushed for a touchdown and added an interception in the road win that effectively has ended McKean's chances at a 2018 playoff run.
While Tahzir Emmens-Grant found Aaron Lewis for an absolute bomb to pull within one, the Green Knights would strike in the 3rd quarter with Zach Wallen-James Collins connection--both of those plays are sure to make this week's edition of top plays.
Unfortunately, the real highlight of this game was the eight turnovers, including 6 fumbles.
The varying but nevertheless unrelenting rain played a factor in that, which added to a game that had to be reeled in with yellow flags on several occasions.
Despite the turmoil, the bout does not stain either program.
McKean has Christiana on the schedule next and, depending on what happens with the Vikings moving forward, can either play or be bequeathed their first winning season since 2005--their last .500 season coming just 5 years ago, in 2013.
Mount Pleasant enters their next encounter--rivalry week, with both the Green Knights and the Brandywine Bulldogs sitting at 4-5 on the season. The winner will grab bragging rights and avoid a losing season.
